How to Pay Bills Online Using GCash

With the Covid-19 pandemic spreading and with most places in the Philippines going under enhanced community quarantine, going out to pay your bills has gotten much riskier.

There’s a way to make things easier and safer though, and that is by learning how to pay bills online! From the comfort of your own home, you can pay your water, electricity, and other utility and government bills on your smartphone through GCash. If you already registered for an account (read our guide for that here on this link), then here’s a short guide about how you can pay bills there.

First off, make sure to deposit (“cash-in”) enough money in your GCash account. Just use the nearest TouchPay machine, accredited GCash partner, or link your BPI or Unionbank account to deposit funds. Once you’ve added enough, here’s how to pay your bills on the app.

How to Pay Bills Online Using GCash

1. Connect to the internet and log-in to your GCash account using your MPIN.

2. Select “Pay Bills”.

3. Choose the category of your biller (electricity, water, telecoms, etc.).

4. Choose your biller (Meralco, Manila Water, Globe, etc.).

5. Select the method and type the account numbers and/or other details. Double-check to see if the numbers are correct. Click Next.

6. Pay using your GCash balance (or GCredit) and then confirm the payment.

7. And you’re done! 

You should receive an SMS or text message with the details of your transaction as confirmation and if you typed your email address, you should receive a copy of the details there too. You can use those as proof or as your receipt so don’t delete those unless necessary!

Can’t find cash-in locations? Link your Bank account!

If it’s hard to find cash-in locations for your GCash account, you can try linking your bank account to make it easier to add money. So far, you can link BPI and Unionbank. All you need to do is go to the “My Linked Accounts” part of GCash, select BPI or Unionbank, and login using your online banking username and password. I personally recommend BPI as they have automatic deposit machines. If you use those, you won’t need to line up during the busy banking hours to make a deposit.
