While “luck” does play a part in success, we can actually increase our chances of “getting lucky”. We can organize our lives in such a way that opportunities arrive more often, and we can prepare ourselves so that we are “lucky” enough to USE those opportunities when we come across them.
After all, if you’re looking to get a job, instead of sending your resume to 2 or 3 companies, you’ll increase your “luck” by sending your resume to more of them. You’ll increase your luck even further by doing some research and tailoring your resume and letter according to what your prospective employers need. And you’ll increase your luck even further if you consider other jobs, careers, businesses, and other things that you are qualified for and trying THOSE out.
A lot of life can be played like a numbers game. The more we work DESPITE how much you fail (and we all inevitably will face lots of failures in life), the more chances we will all have of succeeding at the things we want to do.
