How to Get an AFPSLAI ATM Card

Tagalog Version (Click Here)

Did you know that AFPSLAI now has an ATM card? If you want one too, then here’s a short guide on how to get your own!

If you’ve saved and invested your money in AFPSLAI (the Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loans Association, Inc.), then you probably already know about their passbooks and how withdrawals and most of their other transactions are over the counter. Because a lot of things are done manually, transactions are usually slower than most banks.

Last April 11, 2023, AFPSLAI finally launched their ATM card which will let you withdraw money from your accounts using their local automated teller machines (ATMs). Compared to the passbook, that system makes withdrawals and balance inquiries so much faster and more convenient. What’s even better is that they plan to link their system to Bancnet which will allow you to use your AFPSLAI ATM card on just about any ATM in the Philippines.

If the AFPSLAI branch that you go to can print those cards and if they also have an ATM in the building, then why not get one for yourself? It will make withdrawals so much easier. If you want to get your AFPSLAI ATM card (which is also your AFPSLAI ID), then here’s what you need to know.

Take note:

  • Not all AFPSLAI branches can print the ATM cards.
  • Depending on the branch, there’s a limited number that they can process every day.
    • I heard that on some branches, they can only print 15 per day. Go very early (7a.m.) to get a slot.
  • The card costs P100.
  • Bring your AFPSLAI ID. The passbooks might not be needed, but it’s better to bring them just in case.
  • The new ATM card will also be your AFPSLAI ID.
  • The card will only work on AFPSLAI ATMs and they will have no transaction fees.
    • Once they connect to Bancnet, fees will be deducted from your account(s) for every transaction on other banks’ ATMs.
  • You can request to unlink the card from your Capital Contributions Account (CCA), also known as the green passbook. This is very important for associate members who might not want to accidentally withdraw from that account.

How to get an AFPSLAI ATM Card:

  1. Go to an AFPSLAI branch that can print ATM cards. Bring your AFPSLAI ID.
  2. Go to the “Membership” section or whichever section in that branch handles this process. Get a queue number if necessary and wait for your number to be called.
  3. Fill up the required form and surrender your old ID.
  4. Complete the biometrics process. They’ll collect signature samples, fingerprints, and your photograph.
  5. Confirm the name that will appear on your card and sign to finalize the transaction. Wait until your card is printed.
  6. You will receive your AFPSLAI ATM card and the brochure containing the default PIN and PIN change procedure.
  7. PIN change: Go to any AFPSLAI ATM, insert your new card and use the default PIN. Click “More” for the PIN change request and type in your NEW 6-digit PIN twice. Congratulations! You’re done!

The whole process is actually very fast and simple and it shouldn’t take long depending on how many people before you are doing the process. In fact, waiting for your number when making a withdrawal takes longer, so if you can then just go to a branch that prints ATM cards and make your balance inquiries and withdrawals using their ATMs! Once they link it to Bancnet, it will then be much more convenient.

In any case, that is all for now, and I hope this quick guide helped!
