Are you Afraid of Success?

Tagalog Version (Click Here)

Many of us dream of living in a big beautiful mansion, earning a lot of money, having lots of friends, and a loving family… but one main reason why we don’t achieve it is because many of us are subconsciously afraid of success.

To be more specific, many of us are afraid of what we need to do in order to become successful. We are afraid of giving up the comfortable things that we have now and we are afraid of trying new things in order to earn something better.

Whenever we think about the good life, doubts also cloud our mind and we can only think of the reasons why we CAN’T do it. The mansion, the riches, and the happy family all seem like an IMPOSSIBILITY for us and we think to ourselves “What if I fail in business? What if I invest and lose money? What if I don’t like that new job or I get fired? What if those people hate me? Why can’t I tell my family directly that I love them? What if I lose everything I have now?” Thus, we stay as we are, do what we’ve always done, and keep earning what we’ve always gotten.

Aside from all that, many want positive changes, but few want to MAKE those changes. Many want to be rich and successful, but few are actually willing to do the work required. Millions of people fail because they’re too scared to try.

What do you do? How do you resolve that fear? How do you earn the life you want?

Are you Afraid of Success?

Have you ever…

Ridden a bike?

Slid down a pool slide?

Rode a carnival ride or a roller coaster?

Jumped off a diving board?

Driven a car?

Have you ever failed?

Have you ever got hurt? Have you ever tripped while running? Have you ever fallen off a bike? Have you ever thought that even if you did get hurt, you still found it fun?

…and then you kept trying…?

…and THEN you got good.

There’s also that secret you never noticed.

You saw someone ride a bike. You saw how they sat on it, how they held the handlebars, and how they stepped on the pedals.

You saw someone slide down the pool slide or ride that roller coaster.

You saw someone dive off the diving board and into the pool.

You also learned how to strap on your seatbelts, turn the keys on the ignition, control the steering wheel, shift gears, and step on the gas pedals, clutch, and brakes.

Since you learned that it’s fun and you learned how other people do it, you wanted to try it too.

It’s the same in Business, Investing, and everything else.

When you start, you’ll probably do badly at first. You’ll probably do things that you shouldn’t do, like forget to budget or save money, follow business fads, or gamble on short-term market movements. When you fail, you should learn from your mistakes and keep trying. Keep learning to master your craft: Read books written by the best in your field, attend seminars and join forums, or have someone help and even teach you how to do it.

Keep going, keep learning, and then you’ll get good.

Pretty soon, you’ll become successful at it.

What do you do if you’re afraid of success?

Simple:

Learn what you need.

Start NOW.

Persevere until you succeed!

Really, if there’s anything you’re afraid of, learn what successful people do and just try it! Many good drivers were once afraid of the highway and many self-made millionaires were once afraid of starting and expanding their own businesses and investments.

The mountains of hard work you need to do to succeed always seem scary at first, but when you start your climb and keep going, you’ll eventually reach the top. When you see the world from up there and you reap the rewards that all your hard work has brought, you’ll realize that it was all worth it.

And then you’ll start looking for a bigger mountain to climb.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
