How to get people to open up to you

At its core, business is about people. We often forget this maxim in our money-obsessed culture, where many players care more about “getting rich” than creating value.

Once someone gets burned by someone chasing dollar bills, they raise their guard. Subsequent suitors, most of whom have benign intentions, get shunned in the process.

This sad fact of life makes it hard for honest actors like yourself. Business publications tell us that networking is everything. However, when the time comes to reach out, it can be extraordinarily challenging.

So I bought a new book called Negotiating 101 by Peter Sander and it contained a lots of tips about basic negotiation. When I read it, I was surprised at how much he emphasized the concept of “win-win”. We talked about this in another article about negotiation and how I first read about it in Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People book.

Isipin mo may irerekomenda ka para sa pay raise o promotion. Malamang, irerekomenda mo ang mabuting kaibigan at hindi ang mapang-api. Kung gusto mo ng mabuting karma at magkaroon ng mas maraming magagandang oportunidad sa buhay, kailangan mong maging mabuting kaibigan sa lahat.

Para sa iyong negosyo man o career, o para sa iyong mga kaibigan at pamilya, ang pagiging magaling makisama ay isang kakayahang kailangan para magtagumpay sa buhay at magkaroon ng mabubuting pakikipag-ugnayan sa iba. Sayang lang at napakaraming tao ang nandadaya dito at gumagamit lamang ng pambobola at panloloko. Kung gusto mong magustuhan ka ng mga tao, kailangan gamitin mo ang tamang paraan: ang paggamit ng kabutihan at tapat na kalooban. Ito ang limang aral na kailangan mo ngayong pag-aralan.
