Three Valuable Lessons from the Desiderata

Three Valuable Lessons from the Desiderata your wealthy mind
Tagalog Version (Click Here)

I still remember all those sleepy mornings several years ago when my family would wake up before 5am to eat breakfast and my brother and I would prepare to go to school. There wasn’t much to do way back then. There were no cellphones or social media sites to distract us, and there were no decent TV shows to watch that early in the morning.

During all those years of mine in grade school and highschool, we had a small wooden plaque hanging over our dinner table and it had a poem written on it, the Desiderata, by Max Ehrmann. That was the only thing I could read in the dining room all those years, and I learned some incredibly valuable lessons from it. I’d like to share what I learned with you here.

Tatlong Maikling Aral Tungkol sa mga Ibinibigay sa Atin ng Buhay

3 Short Lessons About What Life Gives Us your wealthy mind
English Version (Click Here)

“My Wage” (Ang Aking Sahod) ni Jessie B. Rittenhouse

I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store;

For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have gladly paid!

Noong kinuwenta ko ang kakaunti kong nakamit;

Aba, kailangan mo itong panindigan.

Self-improvement and self-help books usually contain some incredibly valuable lessons, and I remember one from a poem that I’ve seen in several of them. It’s called “My Wage” by Jessie B. Rittenhouse, and that will be the subject of our lesson today.

I’m sure you were able to understand the lesson that Jessie has been trying to teach. Life gives us what we ask of it, therefore we shouldn’t limit our dreams. There’s another very famous quote that illustrates that lesson and you can find it in the bible:

“Work Smarter, Not Harder” (Matalinong Diskarte, Hindi Pagpapagod): Tatlong Payo Tungkol sa Tagumpay at Pagsisikap

Work Smarter Not Harder Matalinong Diskarte Hindi Pagpapagod Tatlong Payo Tungkol sa Tagumpay at Pagsisikap your wealthy mind
English Version (Click Here)

Ano nga ba ang ibig sabihin ng “work smarter, not harder”?

Work Smarter, Not Harder: Three Short Tips About Success and Productivity

Work Smarter Not Harder Three Short Tips About Success and Productivity your wealthy mind
Tagalog Version (Click Here)

Have you ever heard the phrase “work smarter, not harder”? One day I was hanging out at a coffee shop and I overheard a young man talking to his older companions (potentially his relatives) about his potential business plans. From real estate, to online businesses, to vending machines, that man had a lot of decent business ideas.

Unfortunately, it felt like he was vastly underestimating the financial risks involved and it also seems like he has very little business knowledge and experience. That’s a recipe for disaster. I still hope he succeeds at whatever he plans to do though.

In any case, while he was talking to his older companions I heard him repeat the words “work smart” and “not work hard”, and how nobody gets rich being an employee (there IS a way if you know how to save and invest properly). It’s thanks to him that I got something I want to write about this week.

What does it mean to “work smarter” and not harder? We have three tips for you here!
