What will you learn this year?

what will you learn this year your wealthy mind

It’s very easy to settle into a routine and do the same thing day after day, week after week, year after year. Unfortunately though, if you don’t actively try to change for the better, you’ll scramble to adapt when your world inevitably changes.

Just think about how years of unhealthy habits lead to health problems, and to be able to live normally you’ll be forced to change your diet, exercise, or take medications. Remember, we get older and weaker, prices get higher, and newer industries and technologies replace the old. That’s just how the world works.

Well if we’re going to change things anyway, why not have fun with it and learn new hobbies and stuff for the new year? After all, there’s a saying that if we’re not growing, we’re dying, and one way to keep ourselves mentally fit and young at heart is to try new things.

If you ask me for my plans this year, here are some new things I want to try:

Upcoming Travel and Adventure Blog!

Upcoming Travel and Adventure Blog your wealthy mind

You learn a lot of things when you travel. You get to meet different kinds of people, experience different cultures, and get into all sorts of situations. Sometimes you get into some uncomfortable situations, like a storm hitting your mountain camp, or you explore a crowded temple in the heat of noon, but you’ll look back on the experience with a sense of accomplishment and adventure. Then you’ll start planning your next travel destination.

My parents used to take me to all sorts of places when I was younger. My dad was an officer in the army before he died, so when we visit him on his deployment, we got to travel to some very unique places. One of my fondest childhood memories was the time he and his men took me through a flooded, bat-filled cave a few kilometers long, the time he took me to a beach with corals full of brittle stars and transparent sea cucumbers, and those times he let me play in his camp’s training grounds deep in the jungle.

Aside from my dad who traveled due to his duties, my mom also loved going to all sorts of places. While my dad took me to exotic jungles, my mom took me to scenic beaches and beautiful historic locations across the Philippines and abroad.

Thanks to both of my parents, I’ve grown to love nature and adventure.

I personally love to travel, and considering the places I’ve been to and how many more I’ll travel in the future (especially since I’m a guide at a hiking company), I do have some tips and tricks that can help you if YOU decide to travel to those places yourself.

Whether you’re going hiking through the muddy mountains and jungles of Batangas and Rizal, or you’re going to walk the narrow and crowded streets of Manila, Bangkok, or other countries, I’ll share with you some travel tips that would hopefully help make YOUR trip more enjoyable.

The Time Some People Tried to Scam Me…

The Time Some People Tried to Scam Me your wealthy mind
Tagalog Version (Click Here)

Before I travel to any new country, I always check for common scams and crimes that my family and I should watch out for. From taxis with overcharging meters, pickpockets, and overpriced bar scams, criminals use all sorts of ploys to grab some quick cash from unsuspecting victims. For this article, I’ll tell you about one time some people tried to scam me when I was way younger.

Looking back at it. there were so many things wrong with their attempt that I don’t know if they ever fooled anyone with it. It was still a very interesting experience, however, so I wanted to share it with you all.

The time some people tried to scam me…

I was a young and innocent college freshman when it happened, and I remember because I was still carrying that big green plastic duffel bag that I first used college. I was a sheltered scholar boy less than a year out of high school back then so although I knew there were scammers out there, I never thought any of them would try to target me. After all, I was just some poor financial aid scholar, not some rich tourist or businessman.

Anyway, I remember that on the day it happened, I got out of class very early on that hot and dry summer afternoon. I was already at the last section of my commute home, and I only needed to walk a few minutes to get to my home. It was around 1pm at that time so although I was walking along a busy highway near a mall, there weren’t a lot of people around.

Midway through crossing a concrete bridge on the way to my house, an old man wearing a baseball cap, a t-shirt, and denim shorts started walking alongside me and said…

“Hey, did you see the foreigner who dropped that gold ring?”

That was the start of the clumsiest scam attempt I have ever experienced.

Good Luck and Bad Luck… and How to Stop Worrying About What Comes Next

Good Luck and Bad Luck and How to Stop Worrying About What Comes Next your wealthy mind

Bad luck doesn’t always follow good luck, and getting lucky in one thing won’t directly CAUSE bad luck elsewhere. If you got lucky, you shouldn’t spend your time worrying about upcoming bad luck somewhere else. Just be grateful for what you’ve got, and enjoy it!

Life is often like a “wheel of fortune”. We may be on top of the world and happy one moment, but we can get crushed by misfortune the next. Still, is that always the case? Will bad luck ALWAYS follow happiness?

When Facing Problems, Pray for Serenity

May 22, 2019 by Ray L. 6 Comments

pray for serenity your wealthy mind
Tagalog Version (Click Here)

My family has been going through some trouble lately because of a certain corporation and their attempts on our property and we’ve been running around talking to lawyers and government offices to ask for help. My mother has gotten sick due to the stress, and we haven’t been able to rest well due to worry.

For times like this, I suddenly remembered a simple prayer I learned from my old college. It’s called the “Serenity Prayer”, written by Reinhold Neibuhr (1892-1971) long ago.
